About Us

Charles L. Williams has been a marine surveyor in the Southeast area since 1977. His areas of concentration include cargo claims for marine underwriters, matters relating to condition, handling, damage, and salvage of breakbulk and containerized cargos. He is also experienced in hull and machinery losses; inland marine investigation; draft and tanker surveys; consultation to terminals, import and export corporations; and expert witness testimony.

Mr. Williams graduated from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina in 1976 with a degree in Political Science and received his training with Charles T. Theus, Inc. (Lloyd’s & AIMU).

Since 1987, as President of Charles L. Williams, Inc., he has represented major importers and exporters, numerous domestic and foreign underwriters, P&I and other interested concerns. He is the Lloyd’s of London Survey Agent and the American Institute of Marine Underwriters Correspondent for Georgia.

He has served as President and chairman of the Southeast regional and national conventions of the Propeller Club of the United States, Port of Savannah and has been a speaker before a number of local organizations on port operations and marine related subjects.

In addition to his professional organizations, he is a member The Savannah Golf Club, Past President of the Sons of the Revolution in the State of Georgia and L’Alliance Francaise of Savannah, and has served as an officer in the Savannah Port Society and Savannah Area Citadel Club. He was a member of the Board of Directors and has served on the executive committee of the national Alumni Association of The Citadel.
